Asateen

The Asateen project explores the intersection of faith, architecture, and visual culture by creating a digital and narrative archive of the prophetic pillars within the Prophet's Mosque. Each pillar carries a distinct historical and emotional identity — from Asaṭṭun al-Muhallaqah, where the Prophet once leaned upon a palm-trunk column that longed for him, to Asaṭṭun Aisha, Asaṭṭun al-Tawbah, Asaṭṭun al-Sirir, Asaṭṭun al-Mahras, and Asaṭṭun al-Wufud, where events of deep prophetic and communal meaning unfolded. The project aims to gather visual, textual, and oral data around these sacred columns — studying their material transformations from palm trunks to marble, their locations within the Rawdah, and their symbolic inscriptions. Working closely with graphic designers, researchers, and historians, Asateen will transform this research into a living visual database. Each column's stamp will be vectorized, annotated, and paired with its narrative, creating an open-access archive and design reference that bridges traditional history and contemporary digital art practices.
